Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to book my bike in to be fixed?
At present no. If you are happy to leave the bike with us, pop in any time. If you are time limited contact us to book a time.
What types of bikes do you fix?
All bikes including children’s, road, MTB, hybrid, electric, trikes. Note we only service electric bikes from established manufacturers, with industry standard parts. We do not fix scooter punctures.
How long does a service take?
It is not possible to be 100% on this. We aim to turn the bike around as fast as possible (e.g. 2 days), but this may take longer if parts are needed. Either way, we will always keep you up to date with progress.
Can you give a quote for a bike repair?
Generally no. We estimate prices but component prices vary, and sometimes a new fault is found during the work.
Can I have my bike fixed whilst I wait?
Often yes. Puncture or broken chain will always be fixed whilst you wait. We will prioritise people who have ridden to the park and need the bike to get home. However during busy times we can’t always respond as fast as we’d want, and must meet deadlines for customers who have booked their bike in. We aim to please cannot please everyone!
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. We will always rectify any fault caused by a faulty part or faulty fitting, without argument. We hope this never happens, and whilst we aim to be perfect, we are realistic enough to know that we might not be. It has to recognised that if a part breaks just after we fitted it, it isn’t necessarily our fault, but we don’t quibble. (Eg a chain can snap at any time if mistreated, or a puncture can happen withing 20 seconds of riding.)
Are you all qualified mechanics?
Yes. We have 3 Cytech qualified mechanics, and if some minor work is carried out by someone else (e.g. brake adjustment) the mechanic will check.
Do you have set prices?
Generally yes, which are displayed in the shop and are on the website. We do reserve the right to charge more if circumstance requires. This keeps prices fair for all.
Do you charge for fitting products bought from the shop?
Generally we charge a small fee of £4 for fitting cassettes, chains, pedals, grips, tyres bought from us (£8 otherwise). We have variable fees for other products (e.g. nothing for a bell, £15 for a derailleur).
Will you fit new parts that I have bought?
We can, but please be aware that buying parts for bikes is complicated and
from experience, people often buy the wrong part. We won’t “bodge” a fit if it isn’t the correct
part.
